Re: Motorcyle VS Deer

Great thread, thanks for sharing it! Moving it to the Medical section, though, since you're still breathing. :) Grats on dodging the bullet.
OK thanks, I thought you all would appreciate some real nasty gut wrenching wounds. Didn't realize this was the dead section so thanks for moving. Sorry to disappoint, still alive bitches!

Re: Motorcyle VS Deer

quite some gap How fast were you going?
I was doing around 70mph and didn't see it or hear it. It was late and I was tired and wanting to get to my hotel room and sleep. I was only 40 miles short....

Re: Motorcyle VS Deer

Fucking hell Ouch! What kind of bike were you riding on that fateful night? This site has made me seriously consider selling my GS and hanging up my helmet for good!!
No man, don't do that. I will eventually go back to riding but on a bigger bike the next time. This was a freak accident, it was stupid and totally my fault. This is what happens when you get careless and take common sense shit for granted.

I was on a customized 2016 Harley Davidson Sportster 48. The helmet is what saved my ass, that and the phone landing 10ft away right side up glowing were I could see it. Somebody was looking out for me because for all intent and purposes, I should be dead right now. So don't cheap out on a motorcycle helmet and get the best money can buy. I think your noggin is worth the extra cash. Besides, the Shoei helmet is expensive because not only does it provide more and better protection, it's way more comfortable. There is nothing like riding your bike thru the Texas hill country, or riding anywhere else for that matter. I'll never stop riding!

Re: Motorcyle VS Deer

The wound is to big to stich up and can only heal on its own. I had this picture taken between dressing change. I'm in a nursing facility that provides wound care, physical therapy, and 24 hour monitoring. I had been out of the hospital for about 2 months in this picture. I was in ICU for 3 weeks and it took me a month to finally stand up on my own two feet and walk to the bathroom. This is what it looks like now. fucking amazing isn't it?
