we got sent the sheets and a few photos at work of this - we save our spent bulbs & they get picked up after a few months -- i believe it and i won't throw those bulbs in the trash.  |

One more vote for Bullshit from me too. I have personally handled mercury on more than one occasion and I am sure there is a lot more to the story that we don't know. I think the person with the icky foot has staff infection or something along those lines. Diabetic too could be.

Looks like some fuckin krokodil russian shit.. But damn if that's really from a cfl bulb it's crazy. I've stepped on one and broke it before but it didn't puncture the skin, HOLY SHIT.

 Only warnings you will find on these bulbs are the fact they cause cancer..from, A. being exposed to the mercury(which can cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm). B. the light itself that they emit, if you are too close to it for a long ammount of time(desk lamp.etc working near it @ close proximity for long periods of time) they can cause skin cancer and sunburn. If you google,boardreader search,bing,ask.com etc etc the topic of broken energy saving bulbs and wounds..you will get tons of hits with this same pic and this same topic from random forums and not an actual company(UL,NSF,other safety standard companies,etc). So, I vote that..if this wound WAS indeed caused by one of those bulbs,.the person had an underlying medical condition,probably diabetes. (diabetes eats feet..) So ..for me..I'm doomed either way.. Diabetes runs in my family..cancer is almost inevetible for everyone now a days..and these bulbs are to be replacing all incandescent bulbs by the end of 2013.. enjoy your day :) |
