They removed a section of fibula. It's on the outer side of the lower leg. It is mostly for a muscle attachment and provides no leg support or articulation. So she will still be able to walk but she loses some mobility. They could later maybe do a bone graft somehow but most likely I don't think they would. She sacrifices some walking agility to save her face. It's a good tradeoff.
