Re: Malnourished & Physically Handicapped 15 Yo Teenager Found in Bedroom
Unfortunately, at least here in the US, things don't get a much better even after the rescue. Foster care is a bandaid on a sucking chest wound at best and county run homes, although usually nice and safe are not a long term solution. In a situation like this one, the child will more than likely have significant issues as a result of the abuse. Ideally, the child in this case would be adopted by a family with resources and education in dealing with this type of situation. The momster should be taken out and shot and left to bleed out slowly. This is an extreme case, but not that uncommon.

I refuse to refer to this poor boy's "incubator" as a mother. Well, actually she IS a mother, just not that kind.

Re: Malnourished & Physically Handicapped 15 Yo Teenager Found in Bedroom
When the wife and I were first trying to adopt we would get such shit from the social workers and even our adoption lawyer. Everything was in the favor of the birth mother because she had the commodity ie, the baby. Everything goes her way. In fact, with this new "open adoption" movement, it's totally about the birth mom. They usually get the birth mom between the fifth and seventh month of pregnancy so as the adoptive parents you must pay for the birth mom's room and board and medical care. She can skip out on you at any moment and change her mind on giving up the child or going with another adoptive family for any reason. The adoption industry is totally geared toward the birth mom. After the birth and adoption, the birth mom gets to have a hand in the child's parenting to whatever degree she decides. In other words, you now have a new family member and co-parent. Now there's no longitudinal studies on if this is good for the child, but it's what the industry is pushing. I got tired of dealing with several lying pieces of shit birth moms and hand wringing social workers that hated cops, so I looked a Mother Russia. We were treated so much better in Russia than we were in the US it made me sad. It's been seven years and I'm still so pissed at the American adoption industry, I'm thinking about opening up a private detective agency specializing in conducting pre-adoption back ground investigations on birth mothers. I feel that since the adoptive parents are investing large sums of money and emotions, they should know exactly who is giving birth to their child and what kind of risk she is to skipping out or being a problem. I ran backgrounds on two of the idiot birth moms and found that one was so full of shit and such a criminal slime ball that everyone in her home county knew about her and her past...she was having a half black child that she was marketing as full white among other issues. The other birth monster was great...right up until I found out her father was a high ranking member of a local outlaw motorcycle gang and her two brothers were serving state prison time for gang murder and gang battery with mayhem. That family, especially the girl's father was insistent on visiting my child. For a cop that's a no go and way too big of a risk. The adoption industry is a farce here in America and should be done away with. I get angry just thinking about what my wife and I went through. Sorry I got a little far off the topic a little.

All all right. Over here we have adoptions, period. No cost, just being a fit couple of parents. Marketing children, what the hell is that? Ugh |

Re: Malnourished & Physically Handicapped 15 Yo Teenager Found in Bedroom
Not to pat myself on the back, but you'd think the system would be grateful that folks want to adopt a child and help to make them whole again. My wife and I had it easy compared to most...our girls are great and have only had very minor emotional issues (night terrors, slow emotional development, very minor bonding issues) but overall they're really great kids (straight A's, beautiful, good friend choices, happy, funny, etc.) and a dream. But they have had trying issues that were difficult to fix/mitigate and there were times when it sucked. They cost us over $100k to get and God knows how much to raise, they just eleven and twelve, so there will be college, weddings, and anything extra that's needed. Few people can afford to adopt and have the education and wherewithal to raise adoptive kids. The system should be grateful that there are families that want to take on a risky senerio. Like I said, the Russians were great to us and we got great kids that are happy and well adjusted...I hit the lottery, but the system as a whole is rotten.
