Re: Leg Infection (possibly Cellulitis)?

While working on a natural rock path in Arizona I got a little cut on my left leg just below the knee. It was apparent right away that it was infected. A couple of days later I walked into a trailer hitch that was on the ground, (it was night and the damn thing was pitch black), scraping and bruising my right leg. These are the pictures of the progression of the infection. I only used ice for the swelling and loaded up on vitamin C, especially grapefruit juice. I wanted to avoid antibiotics if at all possible and that is why it took so long to heal. The swelling blame very uncomfortable at times.

I also used hydrogen peroxide daily for the first week until i read that it destroys the repaired cells as well and was a no-no when it comes to open wounds. Dumb ASS!
If it get staph or MSRA you could lose a limb.

Dunno if I'd fuck around with it.

Re: Leg Infection (possibly Cellulitis)?

Looks like you have a bit of edema going on in your lower leg, especially in picture 9. Despite your injuries, your leg still has that cellulitis look to it. I would get it checked out before it becomes too painful.

Re: Leg Infection (possibly Cellulitis)?

Some of the best home cures for cellulitis are natural antibacterials, such as garlic, colloidal silver and tea tree oil.
You're better just using an over the counter antiseptic. You don't want to dry a wound out too much and tea tree is very drying. Garlic and silver do have antimocrbial properties but only at very high concentrations, they are also irritating and colloidal silver can lead to argyia. If you are going to try anything 'natural' use with care and even with over the counter stuff make sure you dilute it properly. Sure you shouldn't use antibiotics if you can help it but if they're needed then use them.
