It's an issue of gravity as far as the bruising is concerned. The blood and edema settles into the area of least resistance and the scrotum/penis are perfect.

Kimosabe and bujesus got it right. Post-hernia bruising. It's my brothers picture. Tried to gross me out. Bruising or extremely painful air trapped in the cavity can result. Pretty common with guys so it's really information for those that need it in the future. I have a double hernia operation coming up. Can't wait.

The taint is a dangerous piece of real-estate when it comes to infections. For example, Google image "Fournier Gangrene".

If you are a diabetic, go see a doc ASAP.

If it is small and not too angry, I guess you could wait it out. The problem is that these things (especially in that area) can get nasty quick.
