If I were a farmer, and the....whatever it is was born alive, I think I would have shot it out of mercy, I can't imagine the pain that poor thing would have been in, or even the mother who birthed it, having to shove something the size of a very large museum bust of someone out of an opening the size of maybe a silver dollar!

Folks around here use broodmare and breedmare interchangeably.

But they all call the process of a breedmare giving birth to a foal as "foaling".
