A cutter would tell you it feels great. Despite all the poetic speculation of cutting being the 'dark nectar of passion' or a way to prolong that 'sweet, sweet pain' the REAL reason depressed people turn to self harm is actually pretty simple; cutting releases a surge of endorphins and adrenaline in the brain. It's an immediate natural high that's much more gratifying than what any Rx anti-depressant has to offer. But as I stated in my last post, the attention-seeking behavior and suicidal ideation is something else entirely, more akin to Munchhausen syndrome.

A very small percent of people that cut have actual, legit reasons to do so. I.e people who were neglected/abused in childhood and never had any stability or ability to trust anyone.

A bigger portion: teens who are upset mommy and daddy took away their cellphone. Boo-hoo. Learn coping skills for fluffernutters sake.

Then a smaller percent are attention seekers. Especially the ones that take pics/video and post it online.

I am not impressed. I never have been by these sorts of people, and I never will be.
