Re: Dilatation & Curettage Abortion

Can it survive outside of the uterus? No? Then it's not murder. It's called removing a parasite, because before independent life is obtained, that is what it is for all intents and purposes. Just because it might grow up into a worthwhile, contributing member of society, doesn't mean it will... or has to.

And now for some topical humour, overheard at an abortion clinic:

"At your cervic ma'am."
"I'm dilated to meet you. How are you?"
"Oh, you know, I'm scraping a living."

Re: Dilatation & Curettage Abortion

My mom had a miscarriage between the birth of my brother and the birth of me in the 80's and had to undergo a D&C. They're most often done after partial miscarriages, and various other uterine problems. Not just miscarriages or early-term abortions. Things like too much bleeding or PCOS without a period to evacuate the blood.

Applying to the conversation though, as a woman, the reason I'm pro-choice is because every situation is unique. I may never be able to undergo an abortion, but the option is available for those desperately in need. They won't have to go to back alley abortion clinics or take a coat hanger and jam it up inside them and die from sepsis.

Re: Dilatation & Curettage Abortion

This is crazy.

I had a medical miscarriage, as they call it, last year. I was only two weeks along, but my allergy to progesterone was too sensitive and I felt like an elephant was on my chest. I couldn't breath and felt so tired. All that came out was blood clots, and one huge one that I regret not getting a photo of.

Cases like this, I find acceptable ( but would not wish the month of pain on anyone). But if I was further along and just didn't want the baby, those are the people I hate.

Re: Dilatation & Curettage Abortion

When my mom was still practicing primary care (she works in nursing homes now), she had a patient who aborted when she was a little over 5 months along. I was thoroughly disgusted. It made my stomach hurt to hear.

Then there should never be a reason for someone to be charged with a double homicide when killing a pregnant woman... Can't have it both ways! If an unborn child can be considered "murdered" apparently only because it wasn't the woman's choice? Murdered either way from the sound of it.. only difference is one way the woman chose, the other she didn't.

Re: Dilatation & Curettage Abortion

Where ever you stand politically on abortion, I like how they pixelated the disturbing images of the Vagina for us, but left the part of the dead baby.... I almost got sickened by what I saw, but since I didn't have to see a vagina, I'm ok.

Ofc it's murder. If it's still depending on the mother it doesn't mean it's not human. That is one of family's purposes. He can process proteins given from mother's body. It's growing on it. Stopping that, it's murder.
