My Mum had a bunion and when it was removed she was awake for the operation and heard them breaking and resetting her bones. I imagine its a lot easier now as this was the 1990s but she was told to rest for two weeks. Then she went out and bought her own body weight in shoes and sandals.
I hope she has adjusted well and enjoyed those shoes!

I don't know where you live, but, in the US you can buy XXX wide.

"The largest shoe size was 37AA worn by Chicago's, Robert Wadlow, back in 1940. He died at age 22, also being the tallest man in the world at 8 ft. 11 inches."

AA would be very narrow, but, 37 is extremely long.

My 79 year old mother got pissed I told her doctor about one of her yellow toe nails that would, more or less, turn to powder, when I tried to cut it.

All the others are very thick. Just that one.
