Poor little guy. At least he was loved before he passed on.

Re: Death of a Child Born with a Rare Birth Defect

This does make me truly sad, especially that last photo of the mumma holding her poor bub. It would be unimaginably difficult to lose a baby at any stage. The family's strength is quite admirable...

But. Am I heartless for wondering why they'd choose to continue the pregnancy rather than terminate when given the option? I know it's a tough ethical question and probably doesn't have any definite answers regarding what is best for the baby... would Grayson have suffered less if he was terminated earlier, or would it have been the same as having him pass once he was delivered at this point? Was it cruel to have him continue to develop, only to then pass without the same 'assistance' as a termination?

I guess I don't know enough about this topic to have a solid opinion on the matter, but it does make me wonder about a lot of things. It also saddens me to read that the family is now struggling to pay for the funeral costs. I suppose a termination would have meant having no funeral per se, but I can understand how having a proper funeral and burying the poor bub could bring far more closure and feel more 'real' for the family.

Anyway. Very sad story regardless
