Surprisingly, yes. I was very concerned with losing range of motion. I can still rotate my head parallelly to my shoulders. It does get stiff/tense at the very end of this motion. I also have plenty of forward flexibility. Enough that I could headbang fairly well at the Exodus, Black Label Society, and Anthrax show tonight

I attribute it to a great surgical team on both. I went to a place that specializes in just spines. I also think being very rigorous with the physical therapy played a huge part.

That was highlighted by the fact that my second occurred right before covid hit. By the time I was 30 days out and could begin PT, I couldn't due to the pandemic. From Feb to July, I could barely move my neck enough to drive. Once I got into PT, I got all my range of motion back

Glad to hear you can still head-bang. My range of motion is good, but my neck muscles spasm a lot...especially if I sleep wrong. But I'll take this any day over the pain I used to have.

Glad to hear you have good RoM. I had a professor in college that had to turn his whole body when he wanted to turn his head. Not sure what procedure he had done or the extent of his injuries (he only discussed it in vague terms that it was a mountain biking accident). But I was petrified that would be me.

Thankfully, I don't really have much in the way of muscle spasms. Except occasionally right at the incision. Of course, I take muscle relaxers to manage those in my back, so not sure how much that plays a part.
