Re: To All the Smokers

How did you beat it?? Been trying for years - end up caving...

How about you CG?
Had a really wild night of partying and when i woke the next day and had to clean the house up the smell of stale cigarettes and the look of the ashtrays put me off for life. I vowed to quit and just stayed strong. kept away from any friends that smoked for the first month and it gradually got easier. Never looked back

Re: To All the Smokers

Been quit nearly 7 years
I've lost count of how many years it's been since my last stick of cancer-riddled joy. Something like 13 years. Could be more. I still miss them.
*sigh*

The way I quit was this. Got a prescription for zyban, 1 box of nicotine gum, cpl packs of Juicy Fruit gum, lemon drops and tons of pumpkin seeds.
The nicotine gum was really nasty, so I'd bite of a little cornern of a piece and chew on it mixed with the JF gum. Lemon drops and pumpkin seeds kept my mouth busy, with the added benefit of making my mouth very dry. Also, everytime I was getting ready to give in I'd go brush my teeth instead.

Re: To All the Smokers

My 'new years resolution' is to quit this year. I started in middle school, and I just never stopped. The health/hygiene issues are bad, but the money is a big thing too. I'm spending around 300 dollars (plus or minus fifty dollars) a month on smokes. So a year after quitting I will already have 3500 to 4500 dollars of extra money. So quitting is like winning a small lottery ticket every year. When I look at it like that, it really makes me want to quit. But yeah, the health risks are shit too.

You are a member of DR and exposed to all the horrible ways in which a human life can be taken and people still think smoking is the root of all evil. I know blokes that have smoked all there lives and died happy at an old age. Fuk it. You only live once and could get nailed walkin dwn the road tommorow, probably to get a pack of smokes .lol
