I don’t think there’s a one-rule-fits-all for transgender. Studies earlier this year show people who identify as a certain gender have brain structures more similar to their desired gender.

I’m not saying all transgender individuals are like this. I think there is definitely a trendy “scene” about it all, and a very unpleasant undertone to many of those who follow it. For those people it is more of a choice and used as a weapon against others.

However, I also think nature can fuck things up, just as it can make conjoined twins, hermaphrodites and deformities, it can get brains and genders mixed up. It’s rare, but it happens.

I think a pretty good illustration is the story of David Reimer. One of twin boys, his penis was burned off during a botched circumcision, so a doctor reckoned he could be raised as a girl. It was a disaster. He spent his childhood lonely and unhappy because he knew something was wrong. They finally told him the truth at 13 and he immediately changed to a boy. He ended up committing suicide in the end.
