Re: Young British Couple 'Commit Suicide'
It is difficult to see from the angle, but his left and her right hand are actually tied together and clasped. Her family suggested that they did so in order to hold hands throughout the process of dying together. The blindfolds and gags were so they did not have to see and hear one another suffer while dying. I understand that people insist on playing Armchair CSI with this case, even months later, because the setup is unconventional. But as several posts and a bit of research indicate, these people were both mentally ill (severely bipolar and Asperger's), had spoken many times about suicide together to their friends and families, and were both OFF OF ALL THEIR MEDS for weeks due to issues about getting their proper medication through expat health care in SE Asia. They wrote suicide notes in their own handwriting, prepared packages of personal items and heirlooms to be mailed back to their families in England, and no one who knew them was surprised by this turn of events. Neither family disputes the findings of the police or the coroner. The bodies exhibit all of the classic signs of asphyxiation by hanging (blood from the noses, urine on her shorts, hands clenched, tongues protruding against the gags, etc) I understand that it looks weird, but seriously, this was a very obvious double-suicide when you actually take a moment to read the case history and look at the pieces. |
