Woman Found Stuffed and Dumped in Basud, Camarines Norte
PHILIPPINES - On January 2, 2026, an unidentified woman was found stuffed inside the box under Pinagwarasan Bridge, Purok 1, Barangay Pinagwarasan, Basud, Camarines Norte. She was estimated to be about 35-40 years old, 4'8" or 4'9" tall, and had tattoos on her shoulders and chest. Here's the full-text news article I've translated from Tagalog which was published the following day: Investigation regarding the dead body that was found in Basud is ongoing after the tricycle driver and bus conductor (fare collector, not driver) speak out The investigation by Basud Municipal Police Station in coordination with the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Unit (PIDMU) is ongoing regarding the dead body that was found dumped at Pinagwarasan Bridge, Purok 1, Barangay Pinagwarasan, after the important information was discovered from a tricycle driver and a bus conductor (fare collector) who are unaware of the item where the victim was inside. According to police, the tricycle driver voluntarily gave a statement after he saw on social media regarding the report that matches the large black box that he brought earlier in the morning. On text messages that were sent to investigators, the driver said that around 4:00 AM [on January 2, 2026] he was stopped by a man who was wearing a jacket who rode on his tricycle for ₱200 to go to Barangay Mocong. The driver stated that he helped the passenger to bring the large black box from the footboard of a bos. The man said that it contains grocery and fragile items. The box was brought to the tricycle and the passenger rode at the back until they reached a bridge in Mocong. From there, the man suddenly got out and he said that someone is waiting for him, before finally leaving the driver. After watching the news later that night, the tricycle driver immediately went to the police station to cooperate. While he was hesitant to give formal statements due to threats against his and his family's safety, he insisted that he did not know the real contents inside the box and he intended to help with the case. Meanwhile, the police coordinated with the officials of DLTB, where a bus conductor (fare collector) gave a separate statement. According to him, his bus arrived at Turbina Terminal [in Calamba, Laguna] at around 9:30 PM [on January 1, 2026]. He briefly got out to have the documents processed by the dispatcher when an unidentified man approached him to ask if there are vacant seats inside the bus. After confirming that they still have spaces, the man pointed his baggage—a black megabox—that was immediately brought inside the bus. The conductor [fare collector] noticed that it was too heavy and he thought at first that it contains a sack of rice. The conductor [fare collector] informed him that there is a fee for heavy baggage, however the passenger pleaded not to be charged, saying that the box contains mechanical items that would be brought to Daet. Out of mercy, the conductor [fare collector] agreed to bring the baggage without additional fee. According to police, the Provincial Director of Camarines Norte Police Provincial Office is personally monitoring the investigation. The authorities are calling to the public to cooperate, especially to those who have information that will help in identifying the victim and suspect in this crime. |

From the title I thought this was a culinary event that had gone south.

It’s a good thing that the bridge doesn’t collapse with all the rubberneckers gawking.

Ah, there you are mistaken. Pig roast is very popular in the Philippines. They do it over an open pit and it lasts hours.
