Woman Dead from Electric Accident

Another piece of dangerous/faulty electrical equipment cost the life of a 25 years old woman yesterday morning (23/10/13).

She was using what seems to be an immersion heater (seems to, because the portuguese word according to google translate and a genuine google-search on the word means a diving bird (mergulhão, which google translates to "loon" in english. Google doesn't know the danish equivalent, but my oldfashioned dictionary did, and could tell me that "loon" is the american version of what in real british english is called a "diver" - and in danish "lom", which I'm sure is of little interest to the public here, but illustrates which kind of research can be nescessary to post here ).

The poor woman went unconscious and was brought to hospital alive, but died there.

The two images with inserts are from different websites.

Re: Woman Dead from Electric Accident

I always thought a bare heating element which is directly connected to an electric outlet was a slightly dangerous concept...

It was in the kitchen, so it must have been for at cup or a jug.

But your question is interesting, as the article mentioned these heaters as known to be dangerous and that they were used for heating bathing water as well. I had never heard of that before - they were quite usual here for travel use and in the kitchen, but has more or less disappeared with the jugs with build-in heatingelement (same principle in fact) - also for travel and car use. But for a bathtub? They must be enormous

As you can see from my previous comment, the article mentioned that fact.

Yep, and you know how they cook a hotdog in prisons? Bare wire pushed into each end of the dog, then into the outlet.
