I find it odd that they would share a picture of their fathers rotten face. I assume it was posted in some death related Facebook group? Maybe their way of venting/coping is by sharing their experiences with others so they don’t feel as alone.

My uncle passed away alone from SUDEP when I was about 14 and wasn't found for awhile. I remember some of his things being brought to our house (wallet, some documents, boxes, etc) and they smelled so bad we had to leave them outside to air out for awhile before my dad could go through it. It was my first experience with the way death imbeds the smell into things. Anyway, I hope this man rests in peace.

Yeah that's what I'm assuming, it must be a death related group since they mentioned getting photos approved before posting.

Twenty years ago, my mom passed in her sleep and I found her body the next day. My town doesn't have a coroner, but they sent a guy from the local funeral home to handle her body and I remember that out of all the police and emergency personnel that showed up that guy was the most gentle and compassionate out of all or them.

I'm so sorry for your loss and that you had to go through that. And yeah, the funeral home is usually very respectful with how they handle things, in my experience.

Personally seeing the body of someone you care about is weird. It's like a shell because while it resembles them it doesn't behave life them. That made it easier to let go.
