In the US, commercial truck drivers are instructed/trained to run over that stuff (animals, furniture, errant roadway construction safety barrels, etc.). For the very reasons seen on this thread. It's tough to steer into an object rather than attempt to avoid it. For trucks, not autos. Some long haul trucks also have large cow catcher bumpers on them to plow through objects without damaging the truck.

Wildlife barrier? Like them fancy fences along the PCH? Shit here in NorCal they removed a guardrail from a mountain road because.......wait I drove that road a few times drunk,I wonder if they were trying to kill me?

I'm a truck driver in the States. They always tell us to just hit the animal. Did would be alive today if he just slowed down if he could and just hit it.
