Truck Crash Resulting Driver Dead

Truck Crash Resulting Driver Dead

According to witness passing the same road, the driver seems to avoid "creature / animal" crossing the highway, and crashed the truck.

The driver was dead and the companion survived.

Re: Truck Crash Resulting Driver Dead

My driving instructor always told me you must not swerve to avoid an animal in the road. Chances are you will cause a bigger accident than just hitting it. Automatic reactions come in though, especially to decent humans who do not want to kill any animals. Plus if it was a big ol' deer or something like that you're not gonna drive straight into it either.

agreed. I live in an area where you normally find deer crossing the roads (especially at dusk). While you do find the occasional dead deer lying on the side of the road, or the large smear of blood on the road, it's true that most accidents happen when a driver tries to avoid the animal.
Deer, from what I have read, do not have depth perception so they can't tell if a car approaching. All they see is the headlights getting bigger, so you just have to be on guard and anticipate what could happen.

Re: Truck Crash Resulting Driver Dead

In Australia where the kangaroos roam free, they suggest to hit them instead of avoiding them.

Re: Truck Crash Resulting Driver Dead

With all those stickers in the windscreen of the truck I'm surprised the driver saw the animal to be able to attempt to avoid it...

I'm sure it didn't help that the driver was legless...
