Yes, any method of death can result in the bladder relaxing and urine leaking out. Certain types of deaths, however, can be more likely to yield that effect. It is always far more common in 'violent', unexpected deaths than it is for, say, someone who is dying from an illness or old age. This is usually a result of sudden system shock or, in some cases, a reaction to the fear or pain that accompanies such a type of demise. It is most common, however, in any death that is a result of asphyxiation or strangulation. Because of the way the oxygen flow affects the central nervous system, as well as the effects of pressure placed upon the vagal nerve bundle, victims of hangings or strangulation will almost always pee their pants unless they emptied their bladder right before dying. |
