Re: Sulfuric Acid Suicide
The guy who drank the sulfuric acid was really looking for a painful way to die. Some strong chemicals cause an immediate reflex to vomit and can get drawn into the lungs upon inhalation. I think that's the reason for the significant damage to the lung tissue (not just the acid working it's way there). He did a good job of burning out his gastric pathway and respiratory tract. For what it's worth: The woman who was killed with Draino, Liquid Plumber, etc. which all use Sodium Hydroxide, NaOH, which is a strong base, it's still very nasty and will liquefy organs. I remember in chemistry lab in college how an acid would get hot and burn whereas a strong NaOH would make the fingers slippery while it was dissolving the tissue. Both would eventually cause a chemical burn; so we had to be really cautious around both acids and bases. |

Re: Sulfuric Acid Suicide
I agree with XbertroniX, there are some very evil people out there who deserve worse treatment. I still believe that the punishment should fit the crime. If you rape and torture the person who you kill, then the same should happen to you.
