Re: Russian Tourist Shot in Mombasa (Kenya)
I once spent a day in Mombasa compliments of the US Navy. We had a choice between touring the town, or touring the Tsavo game park. Like an idiot, I passed up the game park for a day in the town, but we never felt we were in any danger (this was 40 years ago) I feel sorry for the poor Russian woman....and the unfortunate souls who have to live there these days |

Re: Russian Tourist Shot in Mombasa (Kenya)
Kenya actually has a really huge tourism based economy in certain areas. And every tourist place has the potential for violent shit to kick off, particularly drive bys/gang shoots/robberies. They happen literally every day in 'murica. The poor woman was just on holiday and that doesn't make her stupid. Poor chick, in the wrong place at the wrong time. |

And the guy who took the glasses likes to ask you, "Uh, is she going to wear those fucking glasses to hell with her?" Totally not me who asked that, but I would if I were that scumbag. |

Re: Russian Tourist Shot in Mombasa (Kenya)
Well originally people went there to steal and destroy the riches (blood diamonds for our smartphones, animal hunting) it possessed however the entire continent is not out to go and shoot someone in the head. Your analogy is just as ridiculous as a foreigner saying why would anyone want to go to the USA when they most likely will die in a mass shooting.(I've heard it) Just because bad shit happens one place does not mean it happens all over. There are organizations in Africa where people are committed in caring for orphaned animals until they are old enough to fend for themselves in their natural habitats. I should know. I helped in volunteering one summer and I don't regret it one bit. |
