The saddest part of this whole thing was that it could have easily been avoided. The family that talked him into stopping his medication, the wife that knew something was wrong and yet still left the child with him .... they are all more to blame than he is.

Like Dooshman I worked as an orderly in a neuropsychiatric hospital. What I saw from Schizophrenia is it ran in cycles. You have highs where You would be the normal person. Then you had lows where you were completely out of it. This cycle could take 3-4 months or longer.
