Damn it. What is it with plaid/flannel and shotgun/rifle suicide? Why do the two mix so damn often? I swear, like every other shotgun suicide victim featured here was dressed in flannel. This is gnarly. Twice I've seen cases as such, once as an emt, prior to that as a child. Before privacy was a huge issue I sat in the waiting room of small town ER where my mother worked. Soon, there was all kinds of commotion (the call that came in and staff prepping for the patient to arrive). In they wheeled this guy I knew. The front of his face scrambled, teeth up to his eyes, nose off to the side of his what would have been face. A pile of mush sitting next to him and tubes everywhere along with blood. He gurgled as they quickly wheeled him right past me as I stood mortified, yet intrigued. I believe this was when I came in touch with my "morbid" side. He died a day later. How he lasted that long was beyond me. He left behind his two small children and did it because his wife finally left his abusive ass. Good riddance. I knew him, I didn't like him. I can only hope the last moments of his life reflected the pain he caused his family. And his children realize they're lucky he did it because it was only a matter of time before he started in on them. Regardless, this was where it all began for me.  Great stuff Dahlia. As always. |

Bloody hell, you saw that as a child? I've been 'into' death since I was around 5 years old, but even now I don't think I could cope with seeing something in person. Oh + thank you, glad you like my threads.

In my extremely limited experience, 12 gauge slug versus head are the most violent scenes. Those assholes the Menendez brothers used a 12 gauge alright, but the dumb asses used number 7 bird shot shells. No wonder they had to reload.
