Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
Is there no such thing as personal choice in Canada? "I choose not to inject dodgy street smack into my veins." -Is that beyond people's ability now? I suggest that you try and give a lot of positive support to his son, because the probable outlook in 20-odd years time ain't too bright. I suppose though, things considered, that with the likes of Trudeau running the country, heroin probably seems like a sensible lifestyle option. |

Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
consequences of prohibitionism caused by the retarded war on drugs. Not promoting drugs but if he was doing that in a "legal" environment provided with naloxone none of this would have ever happened. All these synthetic drugs make heroin a "healthy" alternative. |

Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
It's so bad here in the states that people who truly need Rx opioids, who never abused them during the 7 years they were on them, are no longer getting them because of these overdoses. I'm sorry that you lost your brother, but it's not fair that people who suffer legitimate pain are doing so because of addicts. I'm no longer waiting for the bone cancer to kill me; I'm waiting on the courage to do it...

So sorry. I'm in Canada as well and a few months ago I had a family member and his girlfriend die of a fentanyl OD. |

Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
I'll be blunt here. I don't know what type of abuse you suffered as a child, but when I was aged 6 & 7 I was sexually abused by a teenaged neighbour; I also grew up in a dysfunctional home with physically, emotionally & verbally abusive alcoholic parents. All that really fucked me up in the head, led to my becoming a cutter at age 9 (I have numerous failed suicide attempts under my belt -- my first was at the age of 13) and a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder (grounded in the fear of abandonment) that came when I was in my mid-20's. I *NEVER* turned to alcohol, drugs of any kind -- OTC, Rx or illegal -- or smoking, BION. Instead, I turned to razorblades. I had a choice between 4 evils and I made mine.

Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
Unfortunately, you and I both have seen & endured shit that no one should (being sexually abused, brought up by abusive alcoholics, being beaten & raped [by boyfriends], having a best friend murdered -- though not right in front of me -- and psychotropic drugs that sometimes do more harm than good...) but, as I said in a different comment, I never, ever turned to alcohol, drugs of any kind, or smoking. Please don't say that these addicts used drugs because "...people need to get rid of these feeling and thoughts NOW..." There are other ways for an immediate release: Scream, kick the stinky Night Blooming Jasmine bush outside your window, beat up a pillow, throw things... But if the need to be in control of your inner turmoil is there, reach for a #Razorblade.
