Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
As an Ontarionian like yourself, probably from the same area as I have lost my best friend, the only man I have ever loved and my cousin (3 separate people btw) to drugs in the past 14 months. I have to agree with what some people are saying here, sympathetically of course...people make their choices and some people no matter how much help and support you give them are determined to be destructive. Something was torturing his soul, maybe something you didn't even know about. He is free now and as with my loved ones, his release from this will give you comfort.

Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
I have been in recovery from heroin for several years but relapsed several times lately to cope with death of my 13 year old cat. Seeing this post made me realize that it is NOT worth it, and I'm not going to use any more!!! I am almost 44 and of all the crazy things and drugs I've done, I can't believe I lived through it. THANK YOU for posting this, you probably actually saved my life. I'm so very very sorry for your loss. |

Re: OK, Try This Again, My Brother Od'd from Bad Heroin
They OD cos of the potency of fentanyl which they are not used to, or they were not aware of fentanyl being in the mix. potency of heroine = 2.8 times morfine. potency of fentanyl = +-100 times heroine. So 1% fentanyl in the mix makes a shot H 2 times stronger 2% fentanyl in the mix 3 times stronger From the moment you have used about 3-5 times a potent amount of opioids, esp. without being habituated to this dose recently, you get unrepairable damage to your brain receptors where opioids should have interaction. Due to clogging or no interaction. With less receptors being available to transmit the precence of opioids, you are inclined to use higher doses. Vicious circle. unrepairable damage to your brain receptors is the main reason opioids are so addictive. Addicts hope for the same rush which they can never again fetch in low dose. Like mountaineers dying on the + 8000 m level. Mostly when returning. So close to their rush, but already in the death zone. Or returning from a high not bothering about being in a death zone. |

I'm so very, very sorry for your loss. Fentanyl is bad shit. It's a real problem here in Detroit, too.
