Exactly. Some people think that their ideas, or the laws of their particular countries, are supposed to govern everyone. It doesn't work that way in the actual world. Different cultures have widely varying practices. The age of consent in virtually all of South Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America is no greater than mid teens.

I was 50 when I found my teen aged young woman in Asia, and that has worked out quite well, as we celebrated our Silver Anniversary this year.

Ok consent and legal issues aside, I've never met a 17 year old who WANTS to be referred to as a child.
Sadly she will never grow up to look back and discuss whether this was a case of exploitation or sexy empowerment. But out of respect i'll say at least call her a young lady, or even a "girl" which can be stretched to refer to young adults. But dont call her a child i am certain SHE would not have wanted that.
