Re: Luxury Vessel Wrecked in Uganda, More Than 31 Dead

+ I thank you very much for it. There are a bunch of you that are always very kind with your thanks but sadly there's a whole bunch who can't be bothered to thank the people who spend all their time finding content for others to 'enjoy'.
I've been posting photos here several times a week for almost ten years now. On average, I get one press of the 'Thanks' button for every 250 views of my threads and one comment for about every 750 views. Once in a blue moon, some nice person sends me a PM thanking me for all of my work. There are a handful of people who comment and Thank my posts regularly.

It irritated the fuck outta me about 6 or 7 years ago to the point that I almost quit posting on the site. Then I got over it. Why? Because I enjoy finding the shit, I enjoy the research, the translations, the hunt for slightly better or less censored pics. I enjoy writing the snarky narratives with purple prose. But what the fuck am I gonna do, stick it all on a hard drive and stare at it alone in my office? To what end?

Nah, finding it is fun. Sharing it is fun. But if you're doing this for the thanks and appreciation, you're in for a fuck-ton of disappointment so you may as well just stop now.

Eventually I became a Mod, which fortunately allows me to slap the fuck out of assholes who attack content posters or interfere with their threads. But there's nothing I can do about the vast silent majority who give chris no money, download or repost all the shit I bust my ass finding, and never say a word of Thanks.

But if you let them get under your skin, it will ruin your time here and turn you into a shitty, bitter person about the hobby. Focus on the cool ones who do voice thanks and appreciation.

Internet forums tend to be chock-a-bock full of anti-social weirdos anyway. One like this, focusing on death and tragedy and violence amps that up a thousandfold. Lots of them don't post because they're scared the place is illegal and don't want to draw attention to themselves. Huge amounts of our users are foreign and don't understand anything except dead naked women. And you've seen the popular search word listings, for fuck's sake. The most popular terms to search for all involve rape and gender-based violence. These aren't the sorta people who say 'Thank you.' And, in many cases, I'm not sure I'd want them to anyway.

You're very right, I try not to let it bother me but the amount of bloody time I have spent researching + posting, for almost a year, it just pisses me off that so few people even give a 'thanks' that takes a second of their time. As I've said before, the only reason I haven't just given up is because I thoroughly enjoy the research.

When will the developing world understand occupancy limits? Like those buses in India with people hanging off the sides.
Or the trains.
