Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Original posts from page 153. Some more colour photos of the terrible Jarno Saarinen / Renzo Pasolini fatal crash from the Italian 250cc GP at Monza 1973. Renzo fell when in second place on the first lap and Jarno right behind him had no-where to go. It is believed that oil had been dropped during the previous 350cc race and that it had not been cleared up. Twelve riders were involved, some with serios injuries, Pasolini and Saarinen lay dead. Pasolini won six 250cc races and was runner-up in the 1972 championship, he also had many podiums in 350cc racing. Saarinen is thought of as one of the all-time greats, 250cc champion in 1972 and had won races in 350cc and 500cc championships. He looked set to dominate both 500cc and 350cc championships in '73 before this tragedy. |
