I finally went through this whole thread and thanks to all that contributed I was raised watching Indy and rally racing needless to say this was is one of the best threads on DR.

R.I.P. to every driver that has lost his/her life indeed and again thanks, there is so many names in here I haven't seen in a long time.

A great photo of British photographer Andy Willsheer who clearly has balls the size of watermelons, at the Pomona Raceway in California as Steve Gasparelli's out-of-control dragster nearly vaults the barrier....

Shirley Muldowney's massive 1984 crash during qualifying at the Molson Grand National Drag Racing Championship. The cars front tire failed sending the car off course and totally destorying itself and leaving Shirley with crushed hands, pelvis and legs.

Muldowney won the NHRA Top Fuel Championship in 1977, 1980 and 1982, becoming the first person to win two and three Top Fuel titles. She has won a total of 18 NHRA national events.

Jim Nicoll, far lane, and Don Prudhomme launched in the 1970 U.S. Nationals Top Fuel final. Just as Nicoll's dragster crossed the finish line, the clutch let loose (arrows point to exiting clutch discs).

The clutch explosion sawed the car in two just behind the engine, but Nicoll was unhurt, thanks to the parachute that deposited Nicoll and the cockpit (arrow) in the trackside grass.

Is there any more info on the Ray Pickrall Crash, the other versions online call it a 'hard' crash, not mentioning the fatality. There was a famous TT rider called Ray Pickrell which makes searching for any info about this guy almost impossible.

In my MotoX folder I had fatal in the video title, I dont have any other background because im not a MotoX guy

However I know a couple hardcore MotoX race/crash fans that I will send an email too and ask them what the deal is

Nice post AK. There was up until recently a great Italian site that had some amazing and horrific colour photo's of this terrible crash. I never did bother to save the photo's and now it seems to have vanished....

Just one more motorcycling crash...

The great double 500cc World Champion of 1976 and '77, Barry Sheene's monumental crash at the 1975 Daytona 200 when testing the Suzuki XR14 in preparation for the race when disaster struck. While in 6th gear at 8500 rpm and topping 170mph on the Daytona banking, the Suzuki's rear wheel locked up and spat Barry onto the track in a sickening crash.

Barry commented from his hospital bed ” I’m rolling and I can feel all the skin coming off my shoulder and that.” and then he explains what he first thought of when he finally stopped sliding down the tarmac ” Christ I’m still alive, it didn’t kill me, It didn’t even knock me out!”

Sheene broke his left thigh, right arm, collarbone and two ribs, yet he recovered and was racing again seven weeks afterwards.

The last but one photo is not from Daytona but I think sums up bike racing at the time, on one wheel inches away from a brick wall.
