Mario Alborghetti's first and last GP was at the non-championship race at Pau in 1955 driving for the Volpini-Arzani team. He appeared to accelerate rather than brake when getting lapped by a faster car and crashed into straw bales, causing fatal head and chest injuries.

Just to clarify, the little inset picture is Andrea DeCesaris (DeCrasheris) rolling his Ligier at Austria in 1985.... DeCrasheris could have a thread all of his own! Not for nothing was he on the original Deathlist.net in 1987!

Argentine driver Oscar Mauricio Franco's huge 1970 crash in his Berta LR during practice for a local sportcar race. When it started to rain heavily, Oscar crashed and was ejected from the car, one report from the time even states that his crash helmet was ripped off although this seems unlikely as his only stated injury was a dislocated shoulder. |

Norberto José Polinori was known as the 'El Caballero de la Ruta' (Road's Knight) due to his unselfish and friendly style. He lost his life during the Argentine Turismo Carretera road races during 1967 when a number of cars collided including Juan Carlos Perkins. |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Argentine motorsport has a rich heritage but a dark past of tragic crashes that took many of the top drivers of the 60's and '70's. This was another huge loss, the death of César Horacio Malnatti and co-driver Gorosito Michelangelo during a road race in 1973. The car left the road during a battle with Juan María Traverso, hit a bank and split in two, the front of the car including its motor nearly hitting spectators. |

Roberto José Mouras fatal crash at an Argentine Turismo Carretera race in 1992, when his front left tyre burst sending the Chevrolet into an earth bank at high speed. His passenger Amadeo Gonzalez died two days later. Roberto won 50 races and the 1983, '84 and '85 Championships.
