This is Tommy Spychiger. He passed at Monza in 1965 at the 1000km sports car race in a Ferrari 365P2. The Italian papers had a field day with this photograph. I was 15 and wondering what the controversial photo looked like. Well, here it is!

1965 Monza, 1000km sports car race Tommy Spychiger - Ferrari 365P2 Field Day in Italian papers with this photo. I heard about it when I was 15 and was wondering what the hubbub was about. Then I found it in a 2012 post from Mansonturtle, who apparently retrieved it from a Portuguese publication. I'll see what I can find out about Spychiger, who I am pretty sure was an American driver in Europe.  · |

The 1953 Argentine Grand Prix and after a spectator ran onto the track in front of Nino Farina, the 1950 F1 World Champion crashed into the crowd killing 13 spectators.
