Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Ruben Barrichello's heavy crash in opening practice for what would be one of the most tragic GP ever, at Imola in 1994.

Rubens was battered and blooded when he lost control of his Jordan Hart, but worst was to follow the next day when Roland Ratzenberger suffered a fatal crash and then Ayrton Senna lost his life in the race.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Awesome finish to the 1979 Daytona 500

Cale Yarborough and Donnie Allison fighting for first place on the final lap both crash out allowing Richard Petty and Darrell Waltrip who were over half a lap behind in 3rd and 4th to fight it out for the win

Great crash and brawl after the finish as well
This is what MADE NASCAR... This was the first ever live televised race (from flag to flag-complete race). If not for this, who knows what would have became of them. Cale Yarborough made a funny comment years after... He was doing an interview and explaining what happened and says "I got out of the car and commenced to beating the hell out of Allisons fist with my face!" lol Thanks AK!!!

Simonade DeSilvestro: 2001 Indy Practice

I bet this massive crash put some hair on her chest

She did suffer severe burns on her hands and this crash is no laughing matter at all, however I have been waiting to use the "hair on chest" line for like 30 years
I'm gonna google it to make sure, but I'm positive this wreck was around 2009 or 10. I had my own Garage Passes the yr of her wreck cuz I remember seeing her in the Garages with her hands bandaged and I remember I got pissed at ppl cuz they were inconsiderate enough to still ask her to autograph things. And she did (which I would tell them to piss off). She is a very sweet lady! I didn't have my Garage Passes until '08...

2011. I wasn't there this day either. Missed 2 days of on track activity the whole month of May and this happened to be one of the days I missed. It is nice working for yourself sometimes... I pretty much take almost the whole month of May off and am at the track nearly ever day the track is open. I urge anyone who visits this thread to get to Indy in May. Especially if u have never been. If anyone from this thread makes it for practice or quals, and ur no weirdo, creeper, or just a plain jackass, contact me on here and I may be willing to take u a few laps through the Garages with my extra pass. Alvin, u need to do it bud! As much as u've put into this thread, I'd love to show my appreciation... I'm no creeper, queer or anything! lol NO OFFENSE! Just a normal ole redneck that likes to show people the Garages @ Indy for their first time!

I must have hit the 0 instead of the 1 and ended up with 2001 instead of 2011

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Great thread. Anybody have any footage of Rich Vogler's fatal crash? It was on Saturday Night Thunder I believe. I don't think ESPN showed the actual crash, just the aftermath?

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Phil Krueger's crash at turn four early on in the 1984 Michigan 500.

Phil took part in 23 Indy races over a nine year period. He finished in the top ten 3 times, with his best finish in 5th position in 1988 at Michigan and finished 8th at the 1988 Indy 500.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Opps...The above is Chet Fillip not Kreuger, his accident was a lot worse, the car bent in half....

'Chet Fillip, is a former driver in the CART Championship series. Fillip raced stock cars and a modified during his teens and early twenties at Arena Park Raceway in Lubbock, Texas. Chet raced in the CART series in the 1982-1985 seasons, with 9 career starts, and started in the Indianapolis 500 in 1982 and 1983. His best CART finish was in 10th position in 1985 at Milwaukee. At the end of the 1985 season, he switched to the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, where he continued racing through 1987, making 24 starts with a best finish of 15th. After NASCAR, Fillip raced several years in USAC sprint car, with 8 victories and also winning the prestigious Little 500 in 1999.'
