Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Stewart was a close friend with Cevert and very much his mentor. The idea that they argued right before the Watkins Glen crash is wrong. There are some very touching interviews with both Jackie and Helen where they remember Francois quite fondly. I recall a comment by Helen where she describes Francois blowing her a kiss right before he left for the practice session which took his life. Francois would certainly have become a world champion had he lived - and a grand old man of the sport today were he around. |

Wow 100,000 views... I've had this photo for ages and have never been able to find any info on it...amazing image, although its hard to see how the poor spectator could have survived it. |

Paul Dallenbach, the multiple Pikes Peak Champion has an amazing escape after leaving the road at high speed in the 2012 event and taking down a number of tree's and wrecking his car. He had been in 5th gear at 130 mph when the throttle stuck open. The Dallenbach team's car was powered by a naturally aspirated engine that was upgraded with Banks Sidewinder Twin Turbos to produce over 1400 bhp. The safety cage remained intact and saved Paul's life who amazingly only suffered bruising. |
