Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/motorsport/24532901 The 26-year-old, born in London, was a passenger in a Porsche which hit the barriers during a private test session. Edwards is currently leading the Porsche Supercup championship, a series which supports Formula 1 races. Not a great pic from the site but relevent. |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
A heavy crash for Sammy Session in what I think is the 1970 Langhorne 150 at the Langhorne Speedway. Sessions escaped with minor burns. Sammy raced in the USAC Championship from 1965 to 1975, with 62 starts and 21 top 10 finishes. His best result was 4th on 7 occasions. His best result at Indy was 4th in 1972. He sadly died in a snowmobile racing accident in 1977. |

Minoru Kawai lost control of his 5 litre 800 horsepower turbo Toyota 7 at the Degner bend of the Suzuka curcuit in Japan in 1970. He was thrown out of the car at 200 kmh as it left the track during a test session. He sustained a skull fracture and two broken legs, tragically these injuries proved fatal.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
There's been plenty of photo's covering Art Pollard's fatal crash in practice for the Indy 500 in 1973, but I don't remember seeing this one before. Art took part in the USAC Championship Series from 1965 to 1973, with 84 career starts. He finished in the top ten thirty times, with two victories, both in 1969 at Milwaukee and Dover. He took part in the '500 from 1967 to 1971, never finishing but with a best start of 6th in 1970. |
