Re: Heroin Overdose & Opioid Related Deaths from the United States [Big Collection]
I guess it's a tragedy when all the dumb white folks die, and it's not when black and brown folks.

Re: Heroin Overdose & Opioid Related Deaths from the United States [Big Collection]
What exactly does it take to keep the hard luck cases away, I wonder? Maybe some guy who's been bullied all his life, or emotionally skewed anyway, and just doesn't register the damage drugs do until it hits him and it's too late? I still think there's no excuse in that context but people succumb. I think we know what the answer isn't - legalising even pot doesn't reduce health risks or crime. And you can lecture until you're blue in the face. |

Re: Heroin Overdose & Opioid Related Deaths from the United States [Big Collection]
Loop 1, I want to thank you for your research, time and effort to bring this problem to the forefront. I think your compilation is good enough to present to high school kids. Nobody ever thinks they're going to die when they get high. I lived on the edge of that insanity for years. After being misdiagnosed by my neurologist, he got me hooked on Ambien, Percocet and Xanax. Only by the grace of God did I finally find a doctor who correctly diagnosed my depression. Treatment has been largely successful for me - been off Ambien & opiates for 4 years. Still need the Xanax and and an anti-depressant, but not in dangerous quantities. I have a neuro-muscular disease, so I live with chronic pain, but thankfully get relief from NSAIDs. I really hope you look into finding someone to co-produce this with you. It's a story begging to be told. God bless you.

Re: Heroin Overdose & Opioid Related Deaths from the United States [Big Collection]
I really don't like to come down on addicts, but I have degenerative disk disease, spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis. My doctor wont give anything stronger than Ibuprofen when I have been on many pain meds in the past and never once abused them. It's hard to remain sympathetic when these people are literally killing people like me who can barely live in this pain.

Re: Heroin Overdose & Opioid Related Deaths from the United States [Big Collection]
I was put on oxycontin for degenerative disease, 5 slipped disc, spinal compression, bertolottis syndrome, spina bifida occulta, something with my right hip which i can't rmember the name of, cervical kyphosis, scoliosis. spondylytis. Don't blame us because your doctor won't give you anything more. You should probably thank him. I went through hell getting off them. You need surgery and a better mix of painkillers, but not opioid, they don't friggin work that good anyway. Just mong you out so you don't care anymore. Be grateful, seriously. Plus how are these people killing people like you? I don't get that bit at all. P.s. nobody abuses ibuprofen. You don't get high off that. You'd just get a stomach ulcer. |

Re: Heroin Overdose & Opioid Related Deaths from the United States [Big Collection]
after thinking about your comment i think what you're trying to say is you cant get these painkillers because other people have become addicted. Damn those stupid people! Guess what, buddy. They're physically addictive to everyone. Not just losers. You really think you can handle it? I've seen elderly people lying when i've been in hospital just to get more cocodamol. Even that they lie about, so don't even think you could deal with something like oxycontin. You stop it you'd have a seizure, you'd feel like you was in hell. You have no idea. Killing you? With pain? I suggest you get a better doctor, see a spinal specialist who can give you pain block injections, or even try something as simple as gabapentin or nortryptyline. If you're in that much pain do something about it instead of whining you can't get opioids. Especially in this thread when you can see the damage they do!

Re: Heroin Overdose & Opioid Related Deaths from the United States [Big Collection]
It's not easy to cease using opiates if you have been on them for a long time. The withdrawal hell I went through is, in retrospect, a blessing. I don't ever want to do that again. Ibuprofen was okay, but the 500 mg Naproxen twice a day helps me much more. Sometimes it's as easy as switching your pain drug. And it doesn't have to be opiate-based.
