Re: The Helmet Did No Good

I wonder if she had a basilar skull fracture. The base of the skull separates, the neck stretches, the major arteries and veins in the neck get pulled apart, and the person bleeds to death in a very short time with the rest of their head basically intact.

Many race car drivers have died that way - Dale Earnhardt, Adam Petty, John Nemechek, Gonzalo Rodriquez, to name just a few.

Re: The Helmet Did No Good

helmet only provides protection up to a point. even the best of helmets. ive seen one who wore a helmet worth 1200 usd (converted), on impact to the pavement, the helmet held but bounced up, breaking the riders neck.

Re: The Helmet Did No Good

i am also a bike enthusiast. i drive a yamaha x1r and i use a modular helmet. the one that you can use half faced or full faced convertible. im just careful though and do not usually overspeed on unknown road or web of streets that anything might come out of the next ten meters or next corner.
