The Helmet Did No Good
Woman, 39, was the passenger on the back of a black Kawasaki. They were moving well in excess of safe speed and passing a second bike, a gold-colored Honda. It is unclear if the two were in some sort of competition or just both reckless and speeding. The two bikes 'bumped' one another during the pass, which sent both out of control. The black Kawasaki was rear ended by a following car, which put the bike down and sent the woman flying. As is clearly evidenced, her head was pounded in spite of wearing a safety helmet. The woman was carrying a backpack full of empty beer cans, so it is assumed that she and the driver of her bike may have both been intoxicated. She was the only fatality, though three others were hospitalized. |
