Well, people who lie, chest and steal to support their addiction... they were predisposed to that kind of behavior. Its not like 'becoming a junkie' made them do those things... it just gave them an excuse. Not an acceptable excuse by any means, however, not all addicts are going to lie cheat and steal. I see your point, but you should think about what I said here. As far as making that initial choice... just be glad that you were taught or at least picked up healthy coping mechanisms in your youth. We aren't all as lucky as you. As for me... 9+ years clean from mainlining heroin. I have no shame about it. It taught me that my youth may not have been as bad as what I could do to my future.
