In Prey Veng Province yesterday (21st July 2018), 51 year old Thithi committed suicide.

According to Thithi's mother, 85 year old Nay Nai, she had been suffering from an illness for a number of years + had tried to commit suicide before.

1st year law student hung herself in her dorm room due to boyfriend problems. She missed a meeting with friends and when they showed up and found her door locked they got worried. They were unable to kick down the door so one of them crawled through a vent and found her hanging from the ceiling fan over her bed. They cut her down and called the police, but she had been dead for over an hour when they found her.

Thai is tough to translate and there were many different articles covering this case because she was a top student at a large law school. Nonetheless I was able to get most of the facts by using multiple different translators.

Initially they considered foul play, but the police eventually acknowledged it as a likely suicide. They stated specifically that the room was not ransacked and her body demonstrated no external injuries aside from the ligature mark around her neck from the cloth she used to hang herself. The article also stated that her tongue was protruding in a fashion consistent with hanging and that she left 'body contents' (likely the software translator's clumsy attempt to convey that she pissed or shit herself, as is also common in hangings) in her pajamas. These physical considerations along with a series of rather colorful suicide notes left on the wall all resulted in the investigators declaring it a suicide. The article(s) also mentioned that she turned the oscillating fan on and left it pointed at her hanging body, for whatever reason.

On the afternoon of 23rd July 2018 in San Lorenzo Atemuaya, 28 year old Natalia Flores hanged herself.


Natalia left a note:

"My child of my life, I love you and I will always love you. I will always remember you and I love you very, very, very much. Daughter, I love you and forgive me. I'll always be with you."
