her family was selling goods in front of the victim's home. She excused herself, went into the house and hung herself.

30 year old Indian woman hung herself from the ceiling fan.

Fucking absurdity. This morbidly hilarious tidbit of news has been getting heavy coverage all over Jharkhand, where it occurred. The story is real, but absolutely ridiculous.

This 17 year old girl was embarrassed and humiliated because her family (like 90% of families in Jharkhand) did not own a toilet in their home. So she, like most people there, had to urinate and defecate in public. She complained to her parents for months saying that she hated being seen defecating in public and begged them to install a toilet in the house. They refused, ostensibly because they were saving money for her marriage dowry.

So this week she hung herself and left a suicide note stating that it was because she was humiliated about being seen using the bathroom in public.

In a display of true Irony worthy of a Greek tragedy that is unlikely to be lost on any regular viewers of this thread, she urinated (and likely defecated) all over herself while dying in the noose and was probably seen covered in her own filth by dozens if not hundreds of onlookers as her body was being cut down, stored, and transported to the morgue.

17 year old girl met an older man (a cop) on facebook and 'fell in love.' Turns out he was a sleaze, though, of the lowest order. After a while he began threatening her if she went out with friends or family. Then he started extorting her for money, making her sell her possessions and those of her family to pay him or else he'd tell her friends and family that she was a dirty whore who did dirty things. Finally, she grew too frustrated and depressed at the harassment. So she put it all down in a suicide note and hung herself in her bedroom. Was discovered by her mother when she came to get her for yoga class.

Turns out the good constable had a record for pulling the same tricks with numerous other young women and girls. He used most of the money for betting on cockfights, an expensive passtime at which he proved a very poor study. He was arrested after the girl's suicide on charges of extortion and various threats under color of authority.
