Re: Hanged Girls Thread Continued
Most people who either hang themselves or are hanged tend to lose control of their bladder and bowels. (Notes made by physicians who examined the men hanged at Nuremberg indicated that most of them did the same) I'm guessing it's an involuntary response, but not being a doctor I'm not exactly sure why it happens And if this particular piece of the thread has already been mentioned or aluded to elsewhere, feel free to knock me over the head and say "Get with the program" |

Re: Hanged Girls Thread Continued
Grrrr I can't stop posting damnit! This might not be the most "scientific" explanation of how hanging affects the bladder/colon, but it's pretty on the mark. And it even mentions some hangings that have been posted on this site. http://www.poopreport.com/Intellectu...g/hanging.html |

Re: Hanged Girls Thread Continued
I have actually studied this occurrence. So many people were pestering me about it back when I started the hanging thread several years ago (seriously, like two people a week either posting or PMing me asking why hangers pissed their pants so much) that I went and asked a forensic pathologist about it. I also found two studies on the subject by researchers in Denmark and in France. I posted a synopsis of the studies here on DR some time ago, either in this thread or another one. Not sure where they are now, though, and the original studies are buried in my notes somewhere on a flash drive. Anyway, if you're interested enough I'll try and find some of the posts I made here about it; if not, then I won't bother as they may be several years old by now. But somewhere I've got a statistical breakdown by gender and type of death (among a sample group of like 2000 instances) that documents how often the bladder and bowels release. It is most common among females who are asphyxiated, followed by asphyxiated males, then other violent deaths for females, then males, and finally natural causes, where the instance of occurrence is roughly the same for both genders. Something to that effect, anyway. At least two countries gave researchers grant money to ascertain this stuff. :P |

Re: Hanged Girls Thread Continued
Oh heck, I could always look things up myself, no biggie. It's...an interesting question from a scientific point of view, and I've seen research funding go into projects that are...a bit on the asinine side ("Why can't you tickle yourself?", "Why are depressed people always sad?", crapola like that) compared to this particular subject.
