Choice, it is our greatest friend. Cancer is terrifying, colon cancer ultimately took my mother, they thought they had it contained she was unwell post op for 3-4 months but just kept getting better & better and she recovered really well, until one day she just knew she had it again. She rallied the family round (we are spread about a bit as 2 are in the military and our kids settled away from the home area) for a big Christmas get together as a thanks for her still being around and so well it was a wonderful time, full of laughs, smiles & memories. I returned to my unit overseas and a month or so later she told me she had cancer of the brain. Caused by a breakaway from the bowel cancer. After a bad beginning in life and a rough teenage, I had only recently (about 2-3 years) built a great relationship with her and I felt robbed once again of what most people seem to have all along Fucking cancer, if its decided it wants you it fucking takes you. She was a former nurse and refused treatment the second time around. She got out and about while she could, but asked MacMillan Nurses to admit her and accept no medication other than pain meds. She told me (by a letter written to my sister before things got too bad) not to return to the country until after she had passed and that the hospice would not admit me if I did as she knew I would not stand by and watch her suffer and she did not want me ruining my life... Good night mum I will be seeing you soon (sooner if they do not get to grips with the pain that has had me bedridden these past 5 months x |

PTSD..I am so sorry. I know this is off topic, but I DO know how you feel. Both...losing a parent and being bedridden in pain and PTSD.

Definitely an unusual way to end it all, it would have to take a lot of self control not to rip the bag off. Notice the cord close by, perhaps she tried the noose first? Then again, she put a pillow down for herself. Pity she didn't try it with a transparent plastic bag, sticking a cheap, coloured plastic shopping bag over your head... come on!

These days I think the popular method is to combine a plastic bag with a helium tank-the sort you can rent from a party store. My understanding is that it is supposed to be fairly peaceful and easy. That said, I have two autopsies on file for two young women in the US (one 18 and one 23) who chose this method of suicide. Both autopsies indicate mild to profuse vomiting into the bag as well as bladder and bowel voiding. I suppose they may have drifted blissfully off to sleep and then puked, pissed, and shit themselves after they died. But usually you only see that sort of 'trifecta' in poisonings (which are agonizing), a few no-drop hangings, or very violent trauma. So I'm not convinced that it is as 'peaceful and painless' as many of the suicide books/sites seem to indicate. |

those foreign countries have the worst treatment, but here in america all they do is abuse medical treatment with phony bills. how sad is that?  |
