TOBELO- Another hanging incident occurred at one of the boarding houses located in Wari village, Tobelo subdistrict, North Halmahera district, North Maluku Province. Around 17.40 WIT. Wednesday (31/07/2024).
The identity of the victim is known, namely Julintia Hutagalung (20), a resident of Hate Tabako village, East Halmahera district, who was a student at Halmahera University (Uniera) who ended her life by hanging herself using a rope tied between her neck and wood in front of the bathroom in her boarding house.
The victim was first discovered by Selhana Tjanj Lolorie (20), a resident of Jano village, West Halmahera district, who was a friend of the victim. According to witness testimony, today is the victim's birthday which should be celebrated happily, not in mourning.
"Today is her birthday, and at 17.23 WIT I sent a birthday greeting to the victim via WhatsApp, the victim replied thank you then sent a voice message while crying, that the victim told me to come to the victim's boarding house and coming in through the window, the victim also said that only I know about this. If the victim's parents asked, I should just say that I didn't know," she said
Then, continued Selhena, at around 19.00 WIT, he invited Elen Sidete (20) to go to the victim's boarding house, when she arrived. They come through the window according to the victim's request.
"Suddenly, I was shocked by the discovery of her friend who was dead. "I then ran and informed the residents about the hanging incident," she said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Police IPTU Denny Salaka, when confirmed, confirmed the hanging incident.
"The motive is currently unknown, we are currently collecting evidence. At this time, the family also refused to carry out a medical examination (visum) and made a statement refusing the medical examination/autopsy. (**)
