Murder-Suicide in Brazil - Man Stabs His Wife, and Then Himself
In Amarante, Maranhão state, a man, identified as Alvino, murdered his ex-wife, Ana d.S.S., with several stab wounds. Immediately afterwards, Alvino killed himself with stab wounds to the abdomen. The incident was witnessed by the couple's daughter. Ana had divorced Alvino two years previously, after a marriage marked by fights and verbal and physical aggression. Afterwards, Alvino reportedly sent death threats to Ana, although the Civil Police were unable to find any record of Ana requesting an emergency protective measure. Alvino occasionally stopped by Ana's house in order to see his grandchildren. Ana worked as a maid for the mayor of Amarante.      |
