Two armed men began to follow the ex-convict Adenilso Vieira Clement, 45, in Maceió.

When he realized he was being followed. He began to run until he was gunned down near his home - a shack in a slum called "Old Dump Cruz das Almas,". He took at least three bullets in the head. The two men fled on foot. His dog found him and innocently slept on his owners legs.

Not long ago, Adenilso left the prison system and decided to change his life. He had just had a baby and was currently working with recyclable materials.

The victim's wife said he was unsure why he was killed because he was not involved with drugs or any knowledge of his crimes.
