Residents of Ute Okpu Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, woke up in the morning of Saturday July 8, 2023, and found an unnamed middle aged man electrocuted to death on 11KV pole close to the transformer around the market square in Ogbe Quarters, Ute Okpu. The suspect was said to had successfully cut two electric cables on the electric pole and was attempting to cut the last one when electricity supply was fully restored. Ika Weekly Newspaper reporter gathered that there was no power supply in the community on that day but it was said that the power distribution company restored power at the wee hour of that day which eventually electrocuted the vandal. |

Cuddalore, Electricity worker electrocuted to death on a transformer. An employee of the power board who tried to fix the electrical fault was electrocuted to death by the transformer itself; The tragedy happened due to negligence. A electrical worker from Pathirikuppam area in Cuddalore district. He was on vacation yesterday. However, when the public called him to fix the power outage in the area, he cut off the electricity in the transformer and repaired the fault. But, while 3 lines are running in the transformer, 2 lines are off when he cut off the electricity. But, not a single line was disconnected. Earth rod is also not connected. Did this cut the power on the line? He got on top of the transformer to fix the fault without checking it properly and without connecting the earth rod, when he was electrocuted to death. He was electrocuted to death while leaning on the transformer. Officials are investigating the accident. The incident of the death of a power board employee while trying to help the public has caused tragedy in the area. Locals allege that a similar accident took place 10 years ago. In an age where accidents are commonplace, we must protect our lives responsibly. |
