These images as well as the corresponding article were forwarded to my inbox recently by a contact of mine living in Australia. I have decided to share them on his behalf. I was informed that this car accident was the result of an illegal drag race. The elderly male was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Not the most graphic selection of car accident photos we've seen on here, but because the accident vicitm died I think they are worthy of contribution. Also it's not often we get original content sent in from Australia.

The news story is as follows:


A man has died in hospital following a collision in Norlane, Victoria on 14 October (2020).

Two vehicles, an orange Holden sedan and a silver Ford sedan, collided on the Princes Highway in Norlane about 5.20pm (AEDT).

The driver of the Ford, a 68-year-old Norlane man, was taken to hospital after sustaining serious injuries but died on 22 October.

The driver of the Holden, a 33-year-old man from Lovely Banks, had been charged with dangerous driving causing injury.

These charges will now be reviewed after he was bailed to attend the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 21 October.

Investigators have spoken to the driver of a late-model silver Holden station wagon that was allegedly seen travelling on the Princes Highway with the orange Holden sedan prior to the collision.

Hard to believe they were drag racing at 5 pm. In Tucson, this stuff usually happens at 11 pm to 2 am. The contestants are lined up by cell phones, converge on a spot at the appointed time, do their racing, and disappear pretty quickly. Only occasionally can the cops find out about a scheduled race bout, and surround the area to give tickets to everyone. Mostly they can't catch them. We have had several fatalities, but fortunately usually only the racers, since they pick roads well out of town, or ones that have no traffic.

I don't think it was an organized drag race so to speak. According to the article, this was 5pm during peak hour traffic on a major highway. Another vehicle was involved but wasn't part of the collision, so it must have sped away.

I believe it's simply a case of two random motorists sizing up one another's egos on a public road. Spur of the moment exercise in stupidity to see which driver's penis is bigger. And as is sometimes the case, an innocent person has to pay the price for their ten second fix of adrenalin.
