Re: Duterte's Wrath
It typically comes down to whose ox is gored. If you have a family member who is shot because he used (not dealt) drugs you have a different perspective on the matter. Most reasonable people would prefer that rehab be at least attempted prior to execution in such cases. This (being shot as a user) almost happened to one of my wife's relatives. He got tipped off that he was on a "hit list" in time, and left the area.

Re: Duterte's Wrath
and what if your family member was abused or had their meagre possessions stolen by some scum bag who is high or wants to get high????? maybe your other family members might have a different perspective on whether they will start doing drugs now??? while rehab might be nice to try, what about the victims of drug users - or don't they matter |

Re: Duterte's Wrath
Your last set of comments, while making some valid points, are not relevant to the one that I was making. We are communicating at cross purposes here. I have no basic disagreement with your main points. I trust that you would not recommend shooting anybody who has merely used (not dealt, not been involved with violence) drugs, in the Philippines or anywhere else.

Re: Duterte's Wrath
I'll bet you these are from Thailand. The death trap of the East. They don't like white people. They might pretend like they do, but it's a trap if you cavort with their whores, etc. If you've got money, property, etc., they'll "smoke" yo' ass when you least expect it. Ooops he fell, or ooops he was found dead in a whore's apartment |

Re: Duterte's Wrath
Many still believes that those killings are just clean ups jobs by police and politicians who used to deal in drugs themselves. Killing all those connected to them before it gets known. Every body here knows that when police makes a big bust, say 500 kilos of meth, they will only declare 50-100, then resell the rest via dealers again. Now they are cleaning the traces that leads to them. I know a lot of users hereabout that are still living and still on the drug watch list. Buy they still breathes so they are just probably random buyers and do not really know where the drugs came from. Except where they bought it from. Not caring to know the real drug source makes them relatively safe and a continued source of income for the sellers. |

Re: Duterte's Wrath
My thinking exactly. And ive been told by a friend police that their orders are to shoot first when a suspect runs from an arrest. And if they find no evidence, plant one. Drugs or cheap counterfeit guns. |
